Soul of the Wildies
This is a series of indian ink artwork inspired by the soul of the wildie horses of Alberta.
Recently the government organized a “cull” of these rustic gorgeous animals. Once some of the horses were captured, they were sent to an auction and likely sent to fenced homes or slaughter. Many wild horses were stripped of their natural way of life, because a few people decided not to allow them to continue living as they were. One wild stallion separated from his band (auctioned), is likely still searching for his family.
As a horse lover, I cannot imagine what they endured. A few are still in the wild, and hopefully can remain in the country. To add to the rustic look, I tea-stained the paper and will make frames with aged wood.
This series is inspired and approved by the talented Duane Starr’s photography.
